Ceramics/Mixed Media

Hello
I hope you’ll find meaning and joy in my art!

I am currently represented at the Mockingbird Handprints Gallery in San Antonio.
Please contact me with any comments, questions, availability and/or pricing on my artwork.
My Story
Watercolor painting was my first creative endeavor since childhood. I’ve been painting for at least 15 years and have taken classes with wonderful San Antonio teachers: Brad Braune, Rick Dentinger, Lesta Frank, Maren Phillips, and Patsy Sasek. I’ve learned from them all! It’s not an easy medium, but I love its fluid, ephemeral properties and the challenge!

I call my ceramic assemblages, “Spirit Totems.” They are similar in nature to the Kachina dolls of the Hopi; “Santos”/saints of northern New Mexico and totem poles of the Pacific Northwest–all symbols of Spirit and protection as well as a way of telling stories.

My Spirit Totems are inspired by my reverence of Nature; Nature is the main way I connect with my concept of the Divine. I love to walk daily and often find interesting and beautiful things–feathers, bits of oxidized metal, shells, and weathered wood. Along with the ceramic pieces I make by hand, I create unique compositions that speak to the celebration of life, friendship, and dreams.
